HAMPSTEN HISTORY - Racing Stories
"I went back to Europe and did the Dauphine Libere - did a pretty good prologue, but during the third or fourth stage I made the break but
then got dropped and was pretty demoralized. So when I started the Tour of Switzerland, hoping that I’d be able to get selected for the Tour de France, I wasn’t really sure if they’d take me, because I wasn’t really riding extraordinarily well. But I ended up winning the prologue, and also the general classification at that race. So, that got me into the Tour de France." Read More...

Our Tour de Suisse frame is based on Parlee’s Z2 (level) and Z3c (sloping) frames: the same great construction, materials, and processes as the Z1-Pro, but using a different series of molds and a less labor-intensive wishbone seatstay. The result: awesome ride, incredible build quality, but at a much lower price.

Available in five stock sizes with your choice of level or sloping top tube; each frame may be additionally custom-fit by extending the head tube 1-2cm at no extra charge. The Tour de Suisse perfectly illustrates our Race geometry: a great balance of quick steering combined with superb descending characteristics.

Each lug on all of our carbon frames is laid-up by hand rather than being pre-formed; this allows for stronger and lighter joints providing the most direct carbon-to-carbon bond possible. The joints are then cured with a combination of high pressure and high temperature, which virtually eliminates voids and the chance of delamination and/or resin pockets. This method allows us to avoid the large glue-lines that can result in the “dead” or “vague” feel of many other carbon fiber frames.
